On December 15th, 2017, we held our first LAND auction, called the Terraform Event, to distribute the first parcels of LAND to the community. Decentraland has been around for longer than you may think. The team hit their first development milestone, Stone Age, in June 2015. This was a simple, pixelated grid that allocated pixels to users through a proof-of-work algorithm.

In order to take part in Terraform (and by that we mean in order to bid on the land that’s being sold as part of the event) a bidder has to bid with MANA. Out of this total, 1.3 billion (51.3%) is in the hands of private holders, while the development company and its affiliates control 1.232b (48.7%).
